“ Ms. Sandra Sakamoto joined the PACE Board of Directors in 2005 and currently serves as Board Chairperson. She is a Partner at LimNexus, specializing in real estate and business transactions; energy purchasing; telecommunications and utility law; public rights-of-way; and commercial litigation. Prior to joining LimNexus, she was General Attorney and Assistant General Counsel at AT&T where she oversaw the Los Angeles Legal Department. Ms. Sakamoto brings expertise in Nonprofit Board Management, serving as Co-Chair, Executive Advisory Council for Asian Americans Advancing Justice and as the Former Board Chair and current Board Member of the Japanese American Cultural & Community Center. Ms. Sakamoto received her B.S. degree in Mathematics from the University of Utah, her M.S.A. in Business Administration and Management from California State University, Dominguez Hills, and her J.D. from Loyola Law School, Loyola Marymount University. ”

Mike Eng
Board Vice Chair & Treasurer, Pacific Asian Consortium

“ Mike Eng joined the PACE Board of Directors in 2020, bringing expertise in Government Policy, Higher Education, Community Development, Law, and Social Justice. Mike currently serves on the California Unemployment Insurance Appeals Board. In 2013 he was elected to the Board of Trustees of the Los Angeles Community College District where he served as Board Vice President. He previously served 6 years as a California Assemblyman, and Mayor and Councilman for the City of Monterey Park. Mr. Eng has taught at Los Angeles Trade-Technical College, UCLA, and California State University, Los Angeles. He earned his B.A. and M.A. from the University of Hawaii and his J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law. He resides in the San Gabriel Valley with his wife, Congresswoman Judy Chu. ”

Hon. Jon M. Mayeda
Board Secretary, Pacific Asian Consortium

“ Hon. Jon Mayeda (Ret). serves as PACE Board of Directors Secretary. Prior to his 26 years of distinguished service on the Los Angeles Superior and Municipal Courts, he was a deputy attorney in both the civil and criminal law branches of the Office of the Los Angeles City Attorney. During his most recent 13 years on the bench (1994 – 2007), including his ten years as a civil “fast track” trial judge, he heard a broad range of civil litigation. Judge Mayeda brings expertise in mediation, law, employment, insurance, and healthcare. He is a Founding Member of the Asian Pacific American Bar Association of Los Angeles County; Member of the California Judges’ Association; Member of the California Asian Judges Association; Member of the State Bar of California; and Member of the Los Angeles County Bar Association. Judge Mayeda received his B.A. in Business and Psychology from the University of Redlands and his J.D. from the University of California, Los Angeles School of Law. ”

Neil Yoneji
Board Member Pacific Asian Consortium

“ Mr. Yoneji joined the PACE Board in 2006, bringing extensive experience in Finance, Management, Education and Operations. He is the former Vice President for Administration & Finance of Mount St. Mary’s College (MSMC). Prior to joining MSMC, he served as Chancellor of the Los Angeles Community College District, California’s largest community college district encompassing 9 colleges, 6,000 employees, 100,000 students and a budget of $350 million. He also served as the Executive Director of Orange County Head Start, the county’s largest child and family service program. Mr. Yoneji received his B.A. degree in Chemistry from Simpson College of Iowa and his M.S. in Economics from the University of California, Santa Barbara. ”

Kerry Doi
Board Member Pacific Asian Consortium

“ Mr. Doi is Founder, President & CEO of PACE, one of the largest Asian-led community development corporations (CDCs) in the United States. Annually, PACE serves more than 40,000 low-income ethnic minority residents from across LA County through Employment, Business Development, Affordable Housing, Energy & Environmental Services, and Early Childhood Education. Mr. Doi oversees an operating budget in excess of $28 million and 300+ staff. Mr. Doi’s outstanding abilities in the field of community development are evidenced not only by his accomplishments at PACE, but by his extensive involvement and leadership in numerous local, state and national community development organizations. Locally, he is a Board Member of the Los Angeles Housing Partnership and the California Community Economic Development Association (CCEDA). On the national level, Kerry was appointed by President Barack Obama to serve on the President’s Advisory Council on Financial Capability for Young Americans. Additionally, Kerry is a founding member and the former chair of the National Coalition for Asian Pacific American Community Development (National CAPACD). Mr. Doi also recently served on the Federal Reserve Board of Governors Consumer Advisory Council. Most recently, Mr. Doi was appointed by Supervisor Hilda Solis to serve on the LA County Small Business Commission. Notable appointments in the Energy and Environmental field include serving as a Member on the National Environmental Justice Advisory Council for the Environmental Protection Agency and as a Member on the Environmental Justice Advisory Board for the South Coast Air Quality Management District. ”

Nefertari Safiya
Loan Review Associate, Pacific Asian Consortium

“ Nefertari Safiya joined Pacific Asian Consortium in Employment in July 2012 as the Loan Review Associate.
Nefertari Safiya brings with her over 5 years of experience in underwriting with 7 years dedicated to Mortgage / Personal lending experinces.
Prior to joining Loan, Nefertari Safiya served as Chief Credit Officer at Farm Credit of Central Florida where she was responsible for managing the credit risk and compliance activities of the loan portfolio, including development and implementation of credit policies and procedures.
She is excited to bring her industry knowledge and commitment to agriculture to serve the clients at Leopoldine Lening Diensten.

Her Responsibilities are:

• Evaluate loan applications for all new borrowers applying for Branch loans.
• Identify and report potential fraud.
• Manage refunds, repayments, and other payment processes.
• Update documentation related to loan reviews and payment processes.
• Initiate manual disbursements to customers.
• Escalate any credit and risk matters to the team lead.
• Propose and escalate areas of continuous improvement to the product team.

Vedhika Saanvi Zoya

“ Vedhika Saanvi Zoya joined the Pacific Asian Consortium in Employment team in May 2009 as Chief Revenue Officer / Loan Processor Manager.

Vedhika Saanvi Zoya brings over 6 years of experience in consolidated asset management leanding services, including institutional management.
Most recently, she held the managing director position of a nationwide, multibillion dollar wholesale agricultural mortgage lender focused on farm real estate lending and agricultural mortgage backed securities. During her tenure, she led a 5-year span of double digit balance sheet growth.

Throughout her career, she has served on various committees, including credit committee, enterprise risk management committee, and senior management committee.
Vedhika Saanvi Zoya experience with managing a nationwide lending program and sitting on credit committee will serve him well as the Chief Revenue Officer / Loan Processor Manager at Leopoldine Lening Diensten.

Vedhika Saanvi Zoya holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Delhi and an MBA from Marylhurst University in Oregon. Additionally, she studied international finance in Chambery, France, and attended the Western Ag Banking School at Washington State University.
She also spent two years studying business management at the Massachusetts Institute of Technology where she received a Certificate in Management and Leadership.

Her Responsibilities are:


Perform initial appraisal of potential borrowers by thoroughly examining their applications.
Assess the credit standings of applicants through background research.
Interview applicants to evaluate their eligibility for loan or mortgage.
Conclude on all applicable financial and non-financial criteria and develop loan repayment plans.
Follow up with clients to clarify important points.
Give the “green light” to eligible candidates and report decisions with sound arguments.
Finalize loan contracts and keep clients informed in rules and obligations.

Stijn A. Brams is accountable for the administrative, financial, and risk management operations of the company, to include the development of a financial and operational strategy, metrics tied to that strategy, and the ongoing development and monitoring of control systems designed to preserve company assets and report accurate financial results.
